Justice reinvestment initiative is an approach where the corrections and criminal justice spendings are examined. By this, it provides a better and cost effective way of managing the criminal justice spendings.
These savings are again invested in building strategies to decrease crime, strengthening the neighborhood and to hold the offenders accountable for the crime.
To achieve this, the policy makers need to make a group of officials with nationally recognised criminal justice policy experts which includes Judges, prosecutors, Law enforcement officials, Victims etc.
This is the cycle they follow.
1. Analyse data
2. Develop policy options
3. Adopt new policies
4. Implement new policies
5. Reinvest
6. Measure performance
Here Research is a part of this initiative. Research happens in finding new strategies and breakthroughs in method of improving the performance of this initiative which accelerates the social change.
