Nicholas Jenkins is a 36-year-old nurse who has worked for Hospice for 10 years. He is reluctant to go into work because of all the infighting and incivility that he sees at his workplace. He is being asked to work an additional 10 hours a week, and that brings his total workload to 50 hours. **Compassion fatigue is mainly Chronic Physical & Emotional Exhaustion. Here Nicholas Jenkins don't have interest to go workplace & work with others.It means He prefers self isolation ,lack of socialization,lack of interest on other .It means he is emotionally exhausted. But he is not give any information about physical exhaustion.So,I like to have some information regarding physical health(like sleep disturbances, weight loss,headache,loss of appetite etc.) to make a clear determination.
***Stretegies for addressing Nicholas's issue:- As Nocholas Jenkins suffering from Compassion Fatigue,so he self care is very needed for him.
1.self care :- Eat healthy foods or maintaining a proper diet regularly,regular exercise is needed,maintain sleeping pattern & good routine,get engaged in household task.
2.spend times with others :- it is needed for prevent loneliness.spending times with family,friends & group.walk together,eat together,talk with them,sharing your thought. After all that if you can't take your mind away from worries then take a leave & go for vacation.
3. Spend time with your hobbies:- You can spend your time what you like to do.like gardening, listening music,writing poem,journal,blogs etc, spend time with your pet if you like.
4.Cope with stress:- cope your stress & worries by meditation,Yoga,walking,deep breathing,Take a shower ,meet with your friend,you can spend your time on social media.
5.Behavioural changes:- change your emotional boundaries.Set realistic goals & expectations. Focus on balancing work & personal life.keep sense of humor.keep in touch with your colleagues.
6.Take help of a Therapist:- After all those,if negative thinking is not reduced then must be talk with therapist or counselor to deal with negative thinking.
