The integrated approach of treating an individual with a dual diagnosis is a great challenge. The person suffered from substance abuse also suffered from mental health disorder. The counselor has to treat both conditions at the time. The integrated approach influences more students to enter into the field.
Substance-related disorders such as substance abuse, substance withdrawal, substance dependence, substance intoxication are treated by an integrated approach. They slowly reduce the amount of substance intake and encourage the coping skills through psychotherapy. Long-term care of group therapy is also provided for the members.
Some of the barriers are the individuals must be focused based on nature, severity, and disability. It should need a collaborative program of mental health setting and addiction setting. The patient should accommodate various aspects of treatment.
The needed individual is approached by both addiction specialist and mental health specialist. The single treatment plan is customized based on the individual. The sober living room can offer this type of treatment.
