Solutions

Expert Solution

In the case study several types of systems were used. One was a Transaction Processing System (TPS). RFID tags would track all the NFL player’s movements. This system was used to track all the data gathered from the players and then they used this data in various ways. They give access to the data to the fans and use it to evaluate the teams and players. The NFL also uses a Management Information System (MIS) which generates their reports on the performance with the data gathered from the TPS.

There are many ways in which information systems improve decision making for an organization. Using these systems allows coaches and higher-level managers of the NFL to make strategic decisions based on the team’s performance. MIS plays a crucial role in improving operations and decision making. The goal of management information systems is to take data generated by the company’s operations and turn it into useful formats. They can container the capability to run certain situations which would help the NFL determine which players to play, or which plays to call. Once new decisions have been made and implemented management information systems can help you track the outcome and adjustments can be made if necessary.
