Explain what differentiates one type of cell from another (morphology aside) at the molecular level? What role does DNA play in this differentiation process?
At molecular level the prokaryotes and eukaryotes differ from each other based on the sequences present.
The gene of an prokaryotes does not contain introns, where as the eukaryotes contain introns.
Alternative splicing does not occur in prokaryotes, It happens in eukaryotes
The prokaryotes contain less repetitive DNA sequence, where as the eukaryotes contains large number of repetitive DNA.
Post translational modification is not required in prokaryotes, eukaryotes have post translational modification and hence it has desired DNA sequence in the gene for it.
