Expert Solution

An objective lens is an essential optical unit, which verifies the basic performance and function of an optical microscope. Wide variety of objective lenses are available according to their purpose to provide the performance and function for various requires and their applications. Microscope has three or four objective lenses with different magnifications, attached into a circular "nosepiece'' which may rotate to select the required lens. These lenses are color coded for easier use. The objective lens of a microscope is the one at the bottom near the sample. It is a very high-powered magnifying glass with very short focal length. This is brought very close to the specimen being examined, therefore the light from the specimen comes to a focus inside the microscope tube. The objective itself is usually a cylinder which contains one or more lenses that are typically made of glass. It has function to collect light from the sample. This lens in which such correction is made characteristics in powerful concave optical components in the front-end lens group and powerful concave ones in the back-end group.

A certain microscope consists of an objective lens, (Lens 1), and a tube lens (Lens 2). The object is placed at the front focal plane of the objective lens and the image is at the back focal plane of the tube lens. The tube lens has a focal length of 200mm. The objective is labeled 20X, which means that the magnification will be 20 when used with this particular tube lens. The working distance (the distance from the object to...

A simple camera telephoto lens consists of two lenses. The objective lens has a focal length f1 = 38.7 cm . Precisely 36.3 cm behind this lens is a concave lens with a focal length f2 = -10.0 cm . The object to be photographed is 3.97 m in front of the objective lens How far behind the concave lens should the film be placed? What is the linear magnification of this lens combination?
