Define the 9 Gastric Regions
9 Regions of Abdomen: Generally the abdominopelvic cavity was extends from the diaphragm to the pelvic floor and it can be divided into four quadrants and nine regions. It can helps to the anatomists to identify the exact region of the abdomin to easy locate the organ. The nine abdominal regions with organs are as follow.
1. Right Hypochondriac region: It consist of right kidney,gallbladder, liver, some part of small intestine and transverse colon.
2. Epigastric region: It consist of oesophagus, stomach, pancreas, some part of liver, transverse colon, small intestine, right and left kidney, spleen.
3. Left Hypochondriac region: It consist of stomach, tip of liver, tail of pancreas, some part of transverse colon, small intestine, descending colon, left kidney and spleen.
4. Right lumbar region: It consist of tip of liver, gall bladder, some part of ascending colon and right kidney.
5. Umbilical region: It consist of stomach, pancreas, some part of small intestine, transverse colon, right and left kidney and left and right ureters.
6. Left lumbar region: It consist of some part of small intestine, descending colon and tip of right kidney.
7. Right Iliac region: It consist of appendix, caecum, some part of small intestine, right ovary and right fallopian tube (in females).
8. Hypogastric region: It consist of sigmoid colon, rectum, some part of small intestine, right and left ureter, urinary bladder, right and left ovary as well as fallopian tubes (in females) and vas deferns, seminal vessicle and prostate (in males).
9. Left Iliac region: It consist of some part of small intestine, descending colon, sigmoid colon and left ovary (in females).
