1. Your bag of fluid has 60grams of dextrose in 300ml of water. What is the percentage of dextrose in this bag ?
2. The label on a 100 mL Vancomycin solution bag indicates a strength of 5mg/1mL. How many mg of vancomycin are in this solution?
3. How many grams of sodium are in 150ml of 0.9% NS?

1. Given that bag of fluid has 60grams of dextrose in 300ml of water.
Which means that for 100ml of water it has 60g/300ml x 100ml = 20gm of dextrose
Hence it is 20% dextrose in the bag.
2. Given that strength of the solution = 5mg/mL
Which means that there is 5gm of Vancomycin in 1 mL of solution.
Therefore total amount of Vancomycin in 100mL solution = 5g/mL x 100mL = 500gm.
3. 0.9% NS means there is 0.9gm of NaCl(Sodium Chloride) in 100mL of water.
For additional 50mL, it will be 0.9gm/2 = 0.45gm
Therefore total sodium chloride in 150ml of 0.9% NS = 0.9 + 0.45 = 1.35gm
