1) People with additional body weight are at higher risk for
health complications, such as diabetes, heart disease, stroke,
hypertension, gallbladder disease, osteoarthritis (OA), sleep apnea
and other breathing problems, and some forms of cancer (uterine,
breast, colorectal, kidney, and gallbladder).
*They frequently suffer from low self-esteem, impaired body image,
and depression.
2)Barriers and challenges to losing weight in the U.S
-usually environmental and food barriers which doesnot support for
losing weight.
*environmental barriers includes lack of access for exercise and
social, family and work pressures which will not support the
exercise plan.
*food barriers includes lack of access to healthy food .
3) Cultural considerations when discussing weight and weight
loss-
-In some cultures being fat is considered as healthy and thin
people treated as sick.
-in certain situations,it is important to explain about the optimum
weight for the age and height,i.e BMI(BODY MASS INDEX).
-Those who are having normal weight will maintain the BMI between
18.5 to 24.5
-overweight BMI is 25 to 29.9
-Obese BMI is 30.
-considering their BMI we must educate regarding the effects of
additional body weight on health and also teach the weight loss
measures like exercise and healthy diet for losing weight.
