Review the Public Health Preparedness Capabilities. Pay specific attention to the Public Health Preparedness Capabilities Planning Model. Your report should identify and plan for a state of your choosing with an emphasis on the three defined phases:
Assess current state: Assess organizational roles and responsibilities, resource elements, and performance.
Determine goals: Review jurisdictional inputs, prioritize capabilities and functions, and develop short- and long-term goals.
Develop plans: Plan organizational initiatives, capability building/sustain activities, and capability evaluations/demonstrations.
Explore each of the three phases and associated steps.
State - Haryana
1.Assess current state- roles and responsibilities are :-
- assess the health condition of the population.
- conducting surveillance
- establishing programs to control the risk factors for non communicable disease.
- emergency preparedness
- health promotion and education
- conducting research on outbreaks etc.
The resources for conducting these roles and responsibilities are provided by the government in which there are provision of staff, material , research equipment, conducting rehearsals , laboratories,workforce, surveillance etc.
The performance of the public health preparedness of my state is well maintained and above average.It is evaluated on the basis of there performance during an emergency situation . Basically there completion of goal resembles there performance. The provision of health care with full capacity and capability to the public to reduce the adversed outcomes during an outburst.
2. Capabilities and functions are :-
- health protection
- health promotion
- conducting surveillance
- emergency response activities
Long term and short ter goals :-
- reduce the adverse effects of disaster
- reduce the structural damage of the country
- reduce the number of mortality and morbidity
- evolution of advanced technology to be used in disaster management
- conducting research and surveillance on high scale.
-Developing programs to ensure heat promotion and protection.
- Effective training of staffs to deal with disaster
3. Organizational initiatives :-
- maternal and child health programs
- health education programs at primary levels example- Panchayat, schools etc.
- health awareness campaigns
- programs to control and eradicate communicable and non - communicable diseases.
- establishment of reference laboratories etc.
- programs to empower staff development and capacity.
