AMERICAN GOVERNMENT:
Should we encourage "whistle-blowers" inside bureaucratic organizations (govt)?
If you could work for a govt bureaucracy (fed, state, local) who would it be? Why?
Do you have a positive or negative view of govt bureaucrats? Why or why not?
(A) Every organisation deserves honesty from and among all its employees. The presence of honesty in an organization simply cutoff the probability of any downfall in the organization and allows for complete dedication to the goal and success. And that's what a Whistle-Blower can help the organization with. Whistle blowing simply refers to reporting some misconduct or fraud in an organization.
As we are talking about the Bureaucratic organization, we know that there is a wide range of misconduct taking place, from minor issues to more critical and complex ones. So, in my opinion, Whistleblowers can keep a check on these types of misconduct and can immediately report them. Hence we should "whistleblowers" in the Bureaucratic organisation.
(B) If I could get a chance to work for a govt bureaucracy, then I would choose to work for the federal bureaucracy this is because it's the most superior in my eye. As we know, federal bureaucracy makes regulations, or we can say that their work is to formulate sets of rules to be followed by state and the local programs. Also, it is the backbone of the government i.e the government totally lies on it. It is also free from political accountability. Its work varies from saving the environment to collecting the revenue for the regulation of the economy. So i would like to be the part of Federal bureaucracy.
(C) Though goverment bureaucracy have a lot positive things to say but in my eye its cons are way bigger than the Pros. First of all the bureaucracy regulations are not too helpfull when some unexpected situation arises. For this u can take the current example of Covid -19 virus. Though US is one of the world powers but still it was badly hit the virus and its after effect also. Also bureaucratic authorities are quite undemocratic. Best and optimal actions which may lead to success are mostly neglected due to blind adherence. Also in my opinion, Bureaucracy structures tend to be backward-looking, which worked fine in the past. It creates a conflict between innovators and entrepreneurs who prefer forward-looking concepts. Also, the rigidness of Bureaucracy reduces operational efficiency, which is a must need.
