Relate between encoding of traits in DNA, packaging of DNA into chromosomes, and segregation of chromosomes during meiosis
Chromosomal theory of inheritance state that gene are present on chromosome and segregate in the same way as chromosome segregate during cell division.
Dna packaging occur into chromosome so that the long DNA molecule can fit into the small size nucleus of the cell. Chromatin condensation occur during prophase and completed in metaphase where decondensation occur in telophase so, the transcription of the gene occur.
During meiosis chromosome get segregate in order to maintain the cell ploidy and genetic integrity . As the chromosome segregate ,gene also segregate . Each gene contain allele which encodes for a particular trait. Allele also get segregated and result in independent assortment during cell division.
Dna package to chromosome--- chromosome get segregated----- gene also get segregated----- allele present at locus also get segregated ---- each allele encode for a trait ( phenotype).
All these processes are connected to each other.
