Discuss in an in-depth, personal analysis the causes of the American colonial rebellion against British authority, which ultimately led to independence and the creation of a new country called the United States of America in 1776. From the founding of Jamestown in 1607 through the end of the Seven Years' War (or the French and Indian War as the colonials referred to the conflict) Great Britain practiced the policy of "salutary neglect;" define what that meant and how it benefited the colonies but hurt British policy and control of the colonies. After the English victory in the Seven Years' War, Great Britain could no longer afford such carelessness; why? As a result, England implemented all manner of new policies the colonists found unacceptable, which led to widespread protest, resistance, and violence and finally war with a declaration of independence; why?
