Basic life support is a very important skill to be learnt by everyone

Child bls and infant BLS are important as they are different from adults

There are some differences between adult CPR and child CPR and BLS

In a child BLS there are scenarios where there may be 1 or 2 rescuers

If there are 2 rescuers available to do CPR , the compressions to breaths ratio is 15:2 , if only one rescuer is available the ratio is 30:2 for all age groups

For very small children we can use one hand compressions

The depth of the compression for a child is atleast 1/3rd the depth of chest this may be less than 2 inches for small children approximately 2 inches for large children

If only one rescuer on the scene and find an unresponsive child do CPR for 2 minutes before calling and EMS or look for an AED

In case of Choking for an infant

5 back blows and 5 chest thrusts

For child above 1 year apply thrusts

If bag mask is present its must be used rather than mouth to mouth breaths as it's more effective and oxygen supply can be connected to it

There are different sizes for different age group mainly there are infant, child , adult bag masks
