Addiction is a group of disorders that causes physical and mental changes in a person.

Firstly, for treatment of addiction, it is important to identify the substance which the person is addicted to and according to the substance treatment plans vary.Also,it depends on type of disorders, length and severity of use and its effect on body.

Main treatment include inpatient and outpatient programs,psychological counseling,self help groups and medication.

Detoxification is the first step of treatment where clearing of the substance from the body thereby limiting the withdrawal symptoms.

Counseling and psychotherapy depends on the needs of the individual and there are different types of psychotherapy such as cognitive behavioral therapy, multidimensional family therapy, motivational interviewing and motivational incentives.

Rehabilitation program treatment are given as long term treatment.

Medication is given for detoxification, substance abuse and its complication and withdrawal symptoms.
