Skin cancer is one of the most common form of cancers in the world. It is mainly of three types-

basal cell skin cancer
squamous cell skill cancer
melanomas

Skin cancer is caused due to exposure of skin to intense sunlight . Some forms are more common than the others. Caucasian people are at more risk of developing skin cancer than brown or dark skinned people.

Types of treatment for skin cancer depend on various factors-

type of cancer
degree of progression of disease
size and site of the lesion/tumor
general health of patient

Different types of treatment options are-

Cryosurgery : in this procedure liquid notrogen is used to remove the tumor
Mohs surgery- Mohs micrographic procedure is used in case of large tumors.
Curettage and dessication of the tumor is done using a curette and electric current to remove cancerous cells.
Radiotherapy - or Radiation therapy is used in complex, advanced cancers.
Surgical excision of the tumor can also be done for advanced stage cancers.
Immunotherapy is a relatively new treatment procedure which uses the body's immune system to fight and kill the cancer cells.
