TESTICULAR CANCER - It is cancer that effect testicles . It is found rare as compared to other types of cancer . It is found mostly in American males between the ages of 15 and 35 .
Testicles are part of male reproductive system . Therefore have 2 function , I.e. ,they make male hormones -testosterone, and they make sperm ,needed to fertility female eggs cell for pregnancy. , this cancer is often detected when a patient discover a lump or swelling in a testicles , or pain in the scortum , lower back pain , difficulty in breathing . It is more likely to occur in people who have undescended testicles , or family history of testicular cancer.
TREATMENT -
1. ORCHIECTOMY-. In this surgery , the testicles with cancer is removed called a radical inguinal orchiectomy. During surgery , most of spermatic cord is removed. However ,if required then both testicles are removed. Before surgery , sample blood is collected to diagnose. And after surgery , regular surveillance is required ,regular physical examination and blood tests are Also required.
2. RPLND -. Retroperitoneal lymph node dissection . In this surgery , retroperitoneal lymph nodes that lie at back of abdomen are removed , it requires highly experienced surgeon as it is a complex surgery . It is a primary treatment for stage -1 and stage-2 and help to reduce the risk of recurrence and used to stage the cancer.
3. CHEMOTHERAPY - It involves use of drugs to destroy cells of cancer , and prevent them from growing. It is given by medical oncologist.
4. RADIATION THERAPY -. It is used for Stage -1 and now used less often . it is the use of high energy X-Ray , or particles to destroy cancer cells . It is given from a machine outside the body. It is preferred for stage -1 seminomas.
