A scientific article reports a new effect as significant. They also reported their power was .2, and the effect-size was d= 0.1.

- If other research groups attempted to replicate this experiment exactly, state the proportion of times they would reject the null-hypothesis.

- Explain why the effect would not replicate if the original authors made a type 1 error.

- Explain why the effect would not replicate if the new research group made a type II error.

- Assume that there is a true effect of d = 0.1, what can a new research group do to increase their chances of replicating the effect?

- If other research groups attempted to replicate this experiment exactly, state the proportion of times they would reject the null-hypothesis.

ANS ::-

If other research groups attempted to replicate this experiment exactly, they would reject the null-hypothesis 0.20 times because the power is 0.20 which means the proportion of times correctly rejecting the null hypothesis.

- Explain why the effect would not replicate if the original authors made a type 1 error.

ANS ::-

The effect would not replicate if the original authors made a type I error because if the original authors rejected the null hypothesis and declare statistical significance but in reality, it was not true hence it can happen only by chance therefore if we will replicate it would not be the same case.

- Explain why the effect would not replicate if the new research group made a type II error.

ANS ::-

The effect would not replicate if the original authors made a type II error because type II error means the original authors did not reject the null hypothesis even if it was true, so the results for replication will vary from the original.

- Assume that there is a true effect of d = 0.1, what can a new research group do to increase their chances of replicating the effect?

ANS ::-

If there is a true effect of d =.1, a new research group can use the original units that were used in the study which gives d = .1 to increase their chances of replicating the effect.
