Both the light and radio wave are Electromagnetic Wave. Compare the characteristics, applications and limitations of transmissions systems based on light wave and radio wave.

Solutions

Expert Solution

Characterstics- Both waves are electromagnetic, difference between these two waves are- In a radio antenna, the radio waves are created by the accelrations of electrons while radio waves created by the oscillations of the electrons within atoms. These waves have different frequency range.

Radio waves are the radiation with wavelengths in the EM spectrum larger than infrared light. Frequency lies from 300 GHz to as low as 3 kHz, wavelengths from 1 millimeter to 100 kilometers.

Application- radio waves are made by astronomical objects. They are used for fixed and mobile radio communication, broadcasting, radar , communications satellites, computer networks and innumerable etc.

Light waves-They are useful in aircrafts and hospitals where the radio signals interfere with the waves of other machines. Visible light is useful for lighting and information using VLC techniques.

Transmission system-  Light Wave Transmission Systems for Telecommunication Application, transmission of electromagnetic waves in planar, cylindrical, and spherical dielectric layer systems.

Radio Waves propagated by , a transmitter and receiver are employed, analog transmission systems, process sounds into continuously different patterns of electrical signals which resemble sound waves.
