What does the principle of beneficence demand of us?

Solutions

Expert Solution

1 Autonomy in other words can be referred as self-governance.it could be either a positive or negative obligation. For a patients choice to be autonomous choice, the patient must make his or her choice voluntarily, his or her choice must be adequately informed and the patient must have decision-making capacity .

2 It is crucial to decide whether a patient is competentent is a difficult decision. The choice is unavoidable because the default position is that the patients choice will be implemented absent .The choice is important because in making it,we are actually walking a fine line between the Scylla of erroneously ajudging an autonomous choice to be non autonomous, thereby wrongfully failing to acknowledge the patients autonomy and the Charybdis of erroneously adjudging a non autonomous choice to be autonomous, thereby wrongfully failing to protect from harm a patient unable to protect himself.

3 The principle of Beneficience demands us to

  • Protect and defind the right of others.
  • Prevent harm from occuring to others.
  • Remove conditions that will cause harm to others
  • Help persons with disabilities.
  • Rescue persons in danger.
