applying Theory to practice problem
Applying Theory to practice problem includes the application of the Henderson theory which emphasized the importance of increasing the patient’s independence so that the progress after hospitalization may not be delayed. According to her nursing should be categorized into fourteen activities; based on human needs. According to her a nurse's role as substitutive (doing for the person), supplementary (helping the person), complementary (working with the person), with an aim of helping the person become as independent as possible.
Based on this theory I make sure the patient does the following to put the theory into practice;
1 Breathes normally.
2 Eats and drinks adequately.
3 Eliminates body wastes
4 Moves and maintain desirable postures
5 Sleeps and rests.
6 Selects suitable clothes-dresses and undresses
7 Maintains body temperatures within normal range by adjusting clothing and modifying environment
8 Keeps the body clean and well groomed and protects the integument
9 Avoids dangers in the environment and avoids injuring others
10 Communicates with others in expressing emotions, needs, fears, or opinions
11 Worships according to one’s faith
12 Works in such a way that there is a sense of accomplishment
13 Plays or participates in various forms of recreation
14 Learns discovers or satisfies the curiosity that leads to normal development and health and uses the available health facilities.
