Practice is an application or a realization of a theory.
Research is the systematic investigation into and study of material and sources in order to establish facts and reach new conclusions.

Basic types of theory in relation to theory practice and research are Descriptive (relational) or (explanatory)

*Descriptive theories are generated and tested by descriptive research.This type of research is also called exploratory research.It is directed toward answering questions such as:what is this?/what are the existing characteristics of the real world relative to specific question?

*Relational theories are developed by correlational research.This type of rsearch seeks answer such questions as:what's happening here?/to what extent do two(more) charracteristics tend to occur together?

*Explanatory theories are generated and tested by experimental research.This type of research asks questions such as:what will happen if?/Is treatment A different from treatment B?
