Are there any toxic effects of the triacylglycerol polymers on human health? what are they? what is the recommendations to avoid these health risk?

Solutions

Expert Solution

ANS-Triacylglycerol polymer are the lipids generated by the combination of 3 fatty acid molecules and 1 glycerol molecule.these are also called as triacylglycerides.

  • They are present in adipocyte cells of adipose tissues

FUNCTION- It provides energy to the body and more importantly store energy for later when the body needs it.

  • It is used as an edible vegetable oil for the purpose of cooking and frying.

TOXIC EFFECT OF TRIACYLGLYCEROL POLYMER

  1. Triacylglycerols polymer has a toxic effect on the human body as it attacks the macrophages of our immune system, and results in the elimination of viability and phagocytotic activity of them and ultimately results in triggering apoptosis by increasing intracellular ROS in them.
  2. Triglycerides thicken the cell wall of artery walls which results in having high chances of risk of stroke, heart attack, and heart diseases. this diseased condition is called arteriosclerosis.
  3. Triglycerides is responsible for inflammation of the pancreas in our body. this disease condition is called pancreatitis.

RECOMMENDATION TO AVOID RISK OF TRIGLYCERIDES.

  • Reduce the uptake of triacylglycerides in your food use mustard oil instead of that for cooking or frying purpose.
  • Avoid smoking cigarettes,drinking alcohol.
  • Eat low fat diet such as fruits and vegetables and proteins.
  • Maintain body weight by regular exercise.

Risk is defined as toxicity * exposure. For effects on human health, the toxicity component of this equation is determined differently if there is a threshold than if there is no threshold for toxic effects. Compare and contrast the cancer slope factor with a reference dose as measures of toxicity used in equations of risk.
