1. Compare the changes in carbon dioxide between the germinating peas at the warm temperature and the cold temperature. What does the data tell you? Why does temperature have this effect?

2. Remember the cyclist from the SimUText? She wanted to lose some weight before her big race, so she decided to try the low carb diet her friends were talking about. She did lose some weight (mostly because she was eating fewer calories per day), but she found after a couple of months that she seemed to be losing her endurance during long rides – she didn’t seem to have as much energy as she used to. Use the information in Figure 6 to explain what was going on. Be sure to include cellular respiration and/or fermentation in your explanation.

the seed germination is one of the very vital function of the plant life, to germinate the seed, effect of temperature do play a very crucial role, like, the germination of seed mailnly depends on three factors, one is moisture, another one is enzyme activity and the third one is hormone production of the plant seed.

with the increase of temp, there will be a decrease in the moisture level and thus causes the negative effect on seed germination, along with this the increase in temp may lead to significant loss of enzyme activity as the temp is above than the optimum temp and may lead to enzyme damage and thus reduce germination activity, along with this, in the third one, the hormone production in the seeds are also occurs only at viable temperatures and thus the increase inn temp leads to significant loss of hormone production and hormone production enzyme, along with this, the seeds also get distorted at high temperature.

so if we sum up the above points , we can say that at higher temp there is a negative effect on seed germination.

when it comes about the carbon dioxide, the increase in co2 levels increases the efficiency of plant and increases its productivity.

there is another differtn concept of c3 and c4 plant, but pea is a c3 plant and thus that concept is not much of relevance here, as that one is used as an adaptation by c4 plants under high temp and high co2 levels.

thus , one can say the increase in temp, have a negative effect on seed germination

2) our body basically functions on the glucose which produces atp , which is a source of energy, anf the main source of the same is carbohydrates, thus when we start dieting or when we start reducing the co2 intake, this results into the loss of glucose from the body intially and all the glucose is start consuming up.

when the glucose is used up in the body, the body goes to the liver , where reserve food material is stored in the form of glycogen, and enzymes start breaking the glycogen and start using it in the form of energy, by the help of cellular respiration process.

the fact is that, in this breakdown of glycogen which yields glucose, there is more energy used and the energy efficeincy of the body decreases, as more amount of energy is being used by the body to produce adequate amounnt of energy and thats too when the food intake of carbohydrate is minimum and also this glycogen makes the body's energy requirement higher. therefore, the body feels tired.

along with the above facts, the intake of oxygen may result into the fermentation of the glucose , which is anaerobic process, ie breakdown of complex molecule into simpler one in the absence of oxygen which results into production of lactic acid and enrgy. this process, is very harmful for the body as it results into less energy production , cramps in muscles, decreases the efficiency of the body and also is high energy process.
