Chemistry question: We did an experiment in lab and I need to figure out how to A) calculate the mols of NaOH used in titration B) calculate mols HCl in titration C) calculate mols of CaCO3 reacted D) calculate grams of CaCO3 reacted E) calculate percentage of CaCO3 in TUMS. I really need to see all the steps that way I can understand what is going on. We did four titrations with the following information 38 mL HCl, 19.913 g NAOH. First titration took 19.5 ml, second one took 7.9 mL third one took 21.2 mL and the last one took 9.19 mL. Also the weight of the TUMs in first was 1.305 second was 1.309 third was 1.303 and last one was 1.329. Thank you so much in advance and if I need to provide any more information just let me know and I will do that.

Expert Solution

I have several doubs here, but let me tell you how you'll do.

To get the moles of NaOH used, just divide the mass of NaOH between it's molecular weight; in this case:

moles NaOH = 19.913 g / 40 g/mol = 0.4978 moles of NaOH.

To get part B) I need the concentration of HCl used (In Molarity or Normality). I don't know, maybe 1.5 M or 2 M. rovide that info. With that info, you can calculate it using the following formula:

Moles = M * V

Now, the other way to get it, it's to please clearify, you are titrating what? HCl with NaOH, NaOH with HCl or CaCO3 with what reactant? What is the whole experiment. I only know that you did 4 titrations, and two fo them are way too far from another (One titration near 20 and the other near ten). So, I need you to clarify that. How about if you post this again in another question thread but explaining the whole experiment? and Please say what is TUMs.

Hope this helps and I apologize for not answering all because it's not very clear the data given.

So, we did a Beer's Law lab and I am trying to find out how to find the concentrations to make the absorbace vs concentration graph. Say the path length is 1.0 cm, how do you find the molar absorbtivity (in order to get the concentrations with A = epsilon * path length * concentration)? In our physics lab, we did a experiment regarding Hooke's law, and the goal is to find the spring constant by using a simulation. In the first section of the procedure, our instructor intentionally give us the wrong instruction, which tells us to find spring constant using varying mass, delta x and constant gravity. In the second section of the procedure, we need to figure out what went wrong in the first section that caused us to incorrectly measure the...
