The Roman Empire’s down fall finished the ancient world and then emerged the Middle Ages which brought an end to very much that was Roman. Some of the major negative effects of the Roman Conquests were as follows:

  • The farmers sold their land as they fell into heavy and unbearable debts. The landless farmers. During the conquests, the landless farmers flocked to many cities, especially Rome, looking for jobs. Seeking jobs, they joined the restless class of the unemployed people, who were the people protesting against the gap between poor and rich.
  • Further it can be improved with the help of the land reform system which is very important to create an environment where all the systematic working is very important.
  • The busy trade routes of the empire brought riches into Rome. New classes of wealthy Romans emerged which were the officials and generals who amassed the fortunes from commerce and taxes. Which ultimately created class discrepancies between the masses.
  • Widespread use and exploitation of the slave labor affected the small farmers and they were unable to produce much as per the need of the people and not to the sufficient level of latifundia.
  • The major class differentiation created by the avoidance of taxes by the upper classes affected the lower classes of the society and caused agitation and aggression in the public and they conducted aggressive riots against the system and the upper classes.
  • Farmers were treated as slaves which affected the agriculture system of the empire and caused shortage of food grains and essentials in the country.
  • A class of people emerged to be restless and willingly unemployed due to the discrimination between the classes of the society, which affected the overall growth of the system.
  • Increasing corruption amongst the elected classes and the officials created a problematic situation for the country.
  • As more number of people were willingly unemployed, the crime increased and was running wild throughout the region, creating a chaos in society.
  • Their was shortage of money to run the republic. It is an imporatant factor that created the changes in the economy. It is not a good policy to maintain an environment where the implementation of the pre assigned plans are very imporatant in the economy.
