Computer Network:Computer network is a group of computers which connect through a set of protocols. The computers in a network share data, resources etc. The nodes in the network are connected using wires ,fibre optics physically and through hotspots and wan wirelessley. Every host in the network has IP address for identifiaction and sharing of files.

Applications like internet, cloud, fax ,email are examples of network.

The Public Switched Telephone Network:This is a network of telephones operated by national ,regional operators. This is used for communication of people over distance.Every country has a regulator to monitor the PSTN in the country. The calls are handled in a hierarchy manner. This method reduces the traffic ex: local area calls are in one hierachy. If two area people want to contact the calls are transferred to other hierarchy.

Packet Switching: Packet switching is done over a network . It is a technology where the packets are breaken into blocks or packets for efficeint transfer of data in the network.Packet switching helps to find the shortest path for traversal of data.Packet switching always ensures secure passage of data over the network.

Radio network:Radio network is commonly used in media and entertainement . Mainly there are two types of radio network 1.Simplex communication 2. Duplex communication.

simplex communication supports only one way communication to share public information.

duplex communication is a two way communication which is mainly used by police, taxi etc.

Radio technology has transmitter and receiver both the simplex and duplex radio communication. Truncking is the technology used in radio network to do effective communication.

Computer A is sending a packet to Computer B, and the network topology says it must go through Switch A, then a router, the Switch B, and then the packet reaches switch B. I'm trying to describe this process of sending the packet with OSI model. My book says switches are layer 2 and routers are layer 3. If the packet is traveling down the OSI model from application to physical, how does it go through the router before the...
