Expert Solution

1. The wrong statements are option 1, 2 and 6.
2. Rationale: While soaking dentures it is not necessary to only soak in commercial denture solution, even plain cool tap water can be used. It also not necessary to soak daily, if the individual is comfortable wearing it without the need of removing, it can be used. Thus option 1 is incorrect. While cleaning the dentures it is advisable to clean on a surface linened with a soft towel or cushion or in a sink half filled with water with a soft cloth on the bottom of the sink. This prevents breakage if it slips while cleaning. Thus option 2 is incorrect. Dentures should not be cleaned with any detergent and it should be properly rinsed before usage. Thus option 3 is correct. All surfaces of the dentures should be cleaned properly using a soft brush. Thus option 4 is correct. If the dentures are not used it can be stored in a cup containing cool water or any commercial product. Thus option 5 is correct. If there is a break or any irritation or if it is not fitting properly, the individual should report regarding it. Thus option 6 is incorrect.
3. The answer is option 1, 2 and 5.
4. Rationale: Alcohol in mouthwashes doesn’t kill bacteria. It is used as a preservative. It increases dry mouth which in turn increases the development of bacteria. Thus option 1 is incorrect. Hydrogen peroxide in mouthwashes are added to kill bacteria. Sodium bicarbonate is a cleansing product and has an antiseptic action. Thus option 2 is incorrect. Lemon and glycerine can be included in oral care as it moisturises the oral mucosa and lips. Thus option 3 is correct. Regular brushing and flossing should be followed for healthy teeth and gums. Thus option 4 is correct. Mouthwashes if used regularly causes dryness of the oral mucosa. Alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, sodium bicarbonate which is present in mouthwashes cause dryness of mouth. Thus option 5 is incorrect.
