What issues in Public Health might be controversial and why?
Controversy means giving rise or a topic which is in controversy for a long time and final decision is not made yet. Some of the public health issues which are controversial are :-
- Tobacco ban= government has said ban to tobacco but it's still in the country at a huge amount . People are selling it without any fear because they know tobacco is one of the economic growth factor billions of cigarettes and bedis are sold a day so how can the government impose an strict ban on it when the economic has given more importance than the life of people .
- sex education in schools and other organisations = sex education ,use of contraceptives all these are not allowed in many of the schools and institution because it's against the moral values . People with this kind of perception will not allow education programs related to sex and prevention of STI and use of contraceptives in their organisation even though it's passed by the government which leads to increase in number of minor pregnancies ,STI's , maternal and child mortality .
- regarding medical insurance = for some of the hospital its business to provide care to patients . They provide medical insurance and put unecessary charges on the patient related to procedures which are not done because patients have insurance policy and at last patient find that this procedure or other things are not included in the policy for reimbursement . There has been always an issue in the insurance policy , they attract the people by saying that you will get the reimbursement on every procedure and other cares but these issues are not yet solved irrespective of countries approach to a healthy future because every individual can't afford the medical facilities.
