What is most important to your professional development when thinking about comportment?
WHAT IS MEANT BY COMPORTMENT IN NURSING? Comportment is defined as a dignified manner or behavior. A concept analysis of professional comportment will clarify the power of words, behaviors and rapport skills needed to achieve effective communication and clarity for nurses.
As a nurse, I consider 'Appearance' is the most important factor that everyone have to be aware of before giving an effective care to the patients. It is also the one I found to be the most important pertinent and valuable comportment needed in a professional development. For instance, when a nurse wear the fully qualified uniform, he or she instantly become someone's personification of hope. An effective care is the main aim of a nurse but a crumpled uniform and messy appearance can really undercut the demeanor as a nurse. Moreover, an unironed and unwashed uniform reduces the hope in a patient and may look for someone who is more respectful and professional for his help. Along with a quality care, a patient really looks for a professional behavior and attittude when he risks his life to a medical professionals.
