  • to call an elevator to my floor and ride the elevator to another floor.
  • know that my elevator request is being serviced (and that the elevator is not out-of-order).
  • stop the elevator doors from closing on me as I enter or exit the car.
  • know that I have arrived at the correct destination floor.
  • signal for help in an emergency within the car
