1) Name the four important perspectives of organizational effectiveness. Explain each approach. (400 words)

Note that essay questions should be answered with due attention to their organization (do not just post a lump of text, make sure to organize it in paragraphs, sections and headings). An answer should have an introductory statement or two that lists/states the main concepts and outlines what will happen in the main body. Next, you should elaborate on each important concept that has been listed in detail with examples and illustrations as needed.

Expert Solution

Organizational effectiveness is a composite of four perspectives; open systems, organizational learning, high performance work practices and stakeholders.

Open Systems Perspective views organizations within an external environment as complex organisms that "exist." For assets such as raw materials, human resources, data, financial resources and equipment, organizations rely on the external environment. The external environment also contains PEST factors beyond the organization's control. Such environment services are inputs that are converted into internal environment exports. For example, environmental resources (e.g. raw materials) are transformed into production such as products or services, while in the process of transformation other environmental resources (human resources, equipment) are transformed into subsystems.

Organizations are successful when they are prepared for organization-environment and productivity of internal subsystems, according to the open system perspective.
