Name the synovial joints in the skull.
In synovial joint, the end of articulating bone are covered with a thin layer of cartilage . the entire joint is covered with tough synovial capsule. the cavity of the capsule are contain synovial fluid . synovial fluid act as lubricants to reduce friction between the bone. this fluid helps in movement of joint.
two synovial joint in the skull are :- 1. atlanto- occipital joints
2. temporomandibular joint.
1. Atlanta - occipital joint = occipital bone are articulate with the atlas. Atlanta - occipital joints having two membrane.first is anterior atlanta - occipital membrane is extend from the anterior margin of foraman magnum of occipital bone to anterior arch of the atlas. secend is , posterior Atlanta - occipital membrane, which is extend from the posterior margin of foraman magnum of occipital bone to posterior arch of atlas .
2. temporomandibular joint = temporomandibular joint are the two joints connecting the jawbone to the skull. it is bilateral dubiously articulation between the temporal bone of the skull above and the mandible below.
