Are statements and concepts theoretically and operationally defined in the florence Nightingale theory? Describe.
The goal of Nursing is to put the patient in a better way and the nurse has to observe the patient' environment to make the patient stay in balance. In her major concepts, She related the human beings in relation to the environment rather than the state of health. she defined nursing is an art of science is a medicine. She believed nurse should deal not only with sick but also care of the healthy individuals to promote health. She compared the badly constructed houses with badly constructed hospitals and said that doesn't work for both the healthy and sick. Nightingale believed that noxious air would make the person sick. She insisted that proper room temperature and adequate ventilation, direct sunlight, is essential for a healthy person. She stated that noise and whisper will irritate the patient.
In her theories, she stated that nursing activities have to promote the health. a healthy environment and alteration of the environment will improve the patient's health. An optimal nutrition would lead to proper healing. Nurses should look after the social environment of the patient and support them. Maintaining hygiene and cleanliness on patients and handwashing of nurses will prevent infection.
Thus the Florence Nightingale theoretically and operationally defined the statements and concepts of the theory. Her concepts and statements are very ideal. The fresh air, adequate ventilation, direct sunlight, healthy environment is very essential and beneficial. She correlated the things for positive patient outcomes. Her theory is applicable to our nursing practice even today.
