Perception vs Reality
Subscribe One of the main challenges is the gap between an individual's perception versus reality.
How can perception cloud judgement?
Perception, by all means, is an individual's belief. It might or might not be the reality, as reality is the present state of things or the world itself as it is at that moment. Perception can be created based on certain trends but reality cannot, as its presence is objective and cannot change based on certain beliefs or decisions.
Many times it happens that perception can change a decision, just because the situation or person's ability to do certain things was perceived differently by a person taking the decision. Perception clouds one's judgment just because of the mental belief that has been created which might or might not be correct. Let me give you an example of how perception can cloud judgment in real life.
Being a manager in an IT company is tough and the hiring you do is based on the responses you receive in interviews or the kind of work that has been done in the past. As a manager, you take feedback from others and then hire a person. Now in your mind, you have figured out the person you have hired and you know how well he would perform. But is your perception, the reality? Sometimes it might be but most often it will not. The actual conduct or performance of the individual would vary based on the kind of tasks being performed.
