When evaluating the radial pulse measurement technique of the nursing assistant, the nurse identifies appropriate technique when the assistant:
The nurse identified the appropriate technique when the assistant makes the position of the client in a sitting or supine position .
( In horizontal position the pulse rate become slow than the sitting position. standing position provide quicker rate than the lying or sitting position )
If the client is in the sitting position bend the elbow properly to a 90 degree and provide some support to the lower arm . if the client is provided with the supine position ,place the forearm of the client in a straight manner across the lower chest or the upper abdomen and makes the wrist extended straight .
Place two fingers in the inside of the wrist and below the base of the palm.slide the finger along the side of ligament untill it reach the bottom of wrist bone .when the position is right ,the pulsation of heart can feel .count the beat for 15 seconds and multiply it by 4 to assess the number of beat per minute .
