Expert Solution

CORRELATION COEFFICIENT=r

r gves relaationship between 2 variables

r ranges form -1 to +1

r=0 means no relationship exists

r=+1 means positive perfect coorelationand

r=-1 means negative correlation

For ex if we say X and Y are posiively correlated we say that

as X increases Y increases and vice versa

if if we say X and Yare negatively correlated it means as X increases Y decreases and vice versa

squared correlation (r squared ) may be intrepreted as the proportion of shared variablity

squared correlation also called as coefficient of determination.

(OR)

There are three ways:

1.POSITIVE CORRELATION:: If correlation coefficient value is positive then the variables are positively correlated.

If the value of correlation is close to +1 means there is a strong positive linear relationship between two variables.

2. NEGATIVE CORRELATION:: If correlation coefficient value is negative then the variables are negatively correlated.

If the value of correlation is close to -1 means there is a strong negative linear relationship between two variables.

3.NO CORRELATION:: If correlation coefficient value is around zero that means there is no correlation between two variables.There is no relationship between two variables.

The correlation coefficient value lies between -1 to +1 .
