1) The differentiating factors between occupations and professions are education, theory and research, and a professional framework or model. There have been debates on whether nursing is a "profession" or a skill-based "occupation" has been ongoing for decades. Explain why nursing should or should not be considered a profession. Support your response with reliable, valid sources.
2) Compare and contrast the "nursing model" vs the "medical model". As a future professional nurse, why is it important to understand the differences between these two models/professions? Additionally, discuss why it is best to describe nursing as part of "healthcare system/health professions" rather than the "medical field/medicine".

1.Nursing is a profession or skill based occupation.
In nursing,a person should undergo ongoing education in his/her life time and a professional nurses are those who do occupation with a specific qualities like skillful, self-sufficient duty and obligation. Moreover nursing is a helping and free profession to strengthen the individuals. The professional nursing includes care, cure and rehabilitation. Nursing plays a major role in the advancement of well-bring, prevention of disease and considering the Ill-people. Nursing is mainly focused on moral, legitimate and political issue in medicinal services which shows nursing is a profession not an occupation. Nowadays to elaborate the nursing profession, higher studies are conducting globally. A nurse should have certain qualities or professional elements to keep nursing professionalism. Care is the main aspect for inspiration of nursing and it is created from inside the profession by clinical practice and training. 2. Florence nightingale who differentiated nursing and medicine
The medical model follow well illustrated disease-model contains pathology, clinical medicine, pharmacology,treatment etc and it emphasizes specifically on anatomical, physiological and biochemical malfunction which is a disease-oriented approach to the patient and also an evidence based approach to the treatment of diagnosis,based on history collection and physical examination. The medical course focuses on caring for patients across their entire life span and is designed to prepare practitioners for practise in multiple care settings.
The nursing model focuses on patients mental, physical, psychological needs. Nursing accounts for whole-patient approach not only for disease or treatment. To practise as a care leader or deliver care to patients,a systematic approach of assessing,planning,implementing, evaluating patient care are using in daily basis-overall it is a nursing process. Moreover, nursing is considered as holistic practice because nurses often take continuing education or courses in therapeutic communication and focuses mainly for the care of multiple populations.
