What do you think about the possibility of some level of redemption of economic activity for the glory of God?
Answer) Redemption of economic activity refers to the acts that reduce the negative consequences of economic growth. According to Kuznet curve, there is an inverse u shaped relationship among Economic growth and environmental degradation.
As growth happens the quality of environment decline. To resolve this issue the concept of sustainable development can be incorporated. Where the growth takes place the need of present generation without compromising the ability of future generation to meet their needs. For example, rather than using crude oil we can shift to electric vehicle or shale gas.
There is always an element of redemption in the economic activity. This helps to reassure the glory of God and instil faith in a better tomorrow. For instance, Adam Smith in wealth of nation talks about an invisible hand that correct all the deviation in the market. This can be looked as a benevolent act of God.
