Expert Solution

I have a few idea that can be implemented to effectively reduce the smoking rates in the country. First of all, the grant can be used to hire some skillfull professionals proficient in smoking related counseling and therapists who can help out the people who are already trying to quit smoking. Similarly all the teachers of high schools and collages should organise time to time meating with the parents of the students and discuss with them about how to avoid or eliminate the smoking habits in their childrens and their friends. If the parents too have a habit of smoking then their counseling is required by the teachers. Another way can be to strictly implement the smoking law and put a total ban on smoking in public areas because if someone smokes in a public places then the other people's health is also effected by the smoke. Enforcing smoking law will certainly lower the number of cigarettes per day of any individual which is still a very good start against this problem. Public health professionals can also play a major role in controling the smoking habit in the state by organising a number of promotional events and seminars highlighting the fatal and life-threatening medical conditions that smoking can cause to the people. They can share facts, figures, graph, data about the number of people affected and the horrible medical conditions that they experienced due to their smoking habits. Such activities and programs will produce a fear in the hearts of smokers and concerns about their family members and hence they will try to quit their habit from there. Public health professionals should also promote and educate about the ways of living a healthy life to the people.
