RESPONSE TO INTERVENTION:

GOAL:

the goal of RTI process is to apply accountability in educational program by focusing on programs.

DEFINITION:

It is a process used by educators to help students who are struggling with skill. needs intervention to overcom it. it is for all student not only form them who needs special needs or learning disability. it is a set of teaching procedure.

USES OF RTI:

it begins with the student who is assessd by the teacher assessing the skill of every student. then these assessment help the RTI team to know which student need how much intervention. the teacher can break the class into smaller group and provide intervention . if there is no progres in some students then they have enriched with other intervention like music or art. to monitor the intervention process working or not at assessor have to monitor the student. to know the level of progress the assessor have to assess the student weekly or monthly by using assessment tools which seems like a test and takes few minutes.

for example: the teacher is using corriculum based measurement (CBM) to assess the spelling skill. during this assessment the assessor will ask the spelling of words and in short period of time the student hsve to write spelling also. at each assessment the score if plotted on graph to measure the progreeeness of the student through out the intervention process.

the RTI is based on threetier system so it is otherwise calles multy-tier system of supports.

tier1: whole class

in general class room setting the teacher observe whole class student it is call universal screening. the school will let know the parents if their child is suffering in learning disability or need extra intervention etc. in this tier all the students are given the sam intervention.

tier2: small group intervention

if the student is having not enough progress by using tier-1 then extra support is required. so the class is break into small groups to enriched with different intervention like music and art etc. it will take certain weeks. here the student have to take care by parents also. the teacher will give certain home therapy which will done by parents. the assessor will closely assess the student for their progree in tier2.

tier3: intensive intervention

very small number of students required this tier3 supporti.e. 1 or 2 students. everyday the student will receive new interventions.

ADVANTAGES:

  • It can reduce the time of waiting before assistance for any weakness.
  • it provides appropriate instructions.
  • if research based intervention is helpful then special instruction is not needed.
  • it is used to reduce the child workload.
  • the child is able to get extra help.

DISADVANTAGES:
