Expert Solution

1) Instead of focusing on people's weakeness, POB encourages managers and leaders to build on people's managers and leaders to build on people's strengths, focusing on fixing weakness.

The four POB key capacities are state-like not trait like which means they can be learned and developed. This implies that perfomance can be improved by focusing on self-efficiacy, hope, optimism, resiliency-more effective than trying to change fundamental personality traits.

POB not only improves perfomance and management effectiveness. It results in positive behavior. POB encourages principled actions and appropriate whistle-blowing.

2) Self-efficiacy, Hope, Optimism and Resilience all four are key capabilities that influence our attitude at work.

Self-efficiency helps in executing the course of actions required to manage prospective situations. It determines how much effort people will spend on a task and how long they will persist with it.

With the hope to achieve certain goals, employees have sense of agency or internal control that centres the determination and motivation to accomplish their goals. They would be able to create and use alternative pathways to achieve their goals.

Realjstic and flexible optimism can help protect individuals from striving for unrealistic goals. Optimism is both motivated and motivating.

Resiliency in workplace embraces a proactive dimension that promotes discrepancy creation even in the absence of external threats.
