This is a reminder to all staff of their responsiblities in following the HIPAA security rules.It is important to all staff to know, understand and incorporate information HIPAA best practice.

Key reminders/ precautions for staff:

  • Processed fairly and lawfully, ensure patients are aware of how information is shared
  • Processed for limited and lawfull purposes : treat information ethically and use it only for the purpose it was obtained.
  • The NIST HIPPA security Toolkit application is a self assessment survey intended to help organisations better understand Requirnment of HIPAA security rule, implement those Requirnment and asses those implementations in their operational environment.   • Ensure the confidentiality, integrity and availability of all e-PHI they create, receive, maintain or transmit.
  • Identify and protect against reasonably anticipated threats to the security or integrity of information
  • Protect against reasonably anticipated, impermissible uses or disclosures.
  • Ensure compliance by their workforce.
