Which tissues and organs are involved in the immune response, and how does each function.
The immune system is made up of organs that the lymphoid organs along with Lymphatic tissue in the bowel and in other mucous membranes in the body. The organ that help in immune response are
1)Bone marrow
2)Thymus
3)Lymph nodes
4)Spleen
5)Tonsils
6) Liver
Lymph nodes are small, round organs that filter
out bacteria, waste, and other toxins and also contain
infection-fighting white blood cells. The nodes play a key role in
recognizing and destroying these substances while also signaling
the body to launch an immune response.
Both T and B lymphocyte originate in the bone marrow. B lymphocytes remain in the marrow to mature, while T lymphocytes travel to the thymus. They important role for immune response.
In Thymus maturation of T lymphocyte occur. The body uses T-cells help destroy infected or cancerous cells. T-cells created by the thymus also help other organs in the immune system grow properly.
Spleen help in detection of fault RBC along with pick out the micro germ like bacteria, virus and help during immune response.
Tonsils can stop germs entering the body through the mouth or the nose. It also contain a lot of white blood cells, which are responsible for killing germs.
Some time liver detect and capture the germ and act as secondary immune organ.
The lymphoid tissue that present in bowel and
other mucus region, main job is to produce and send out the
lymphocytes (a type of white blood cell) that target antigens
(proteins and other substances) carried by foreign invaders.
