Imagine that you and a colleague are discussing your respective interests in international nursing. You would like to find a way to use your skills to help those in foreign countries, and your colleague states that he would like to make a career in international nursing.
Answer: Without committing to a career in international nursing, the ways that I might find to use my skills internationally are as follows:
a. Fluency in multiple languages – In addition to the English language, learning other languages are important to have better communication. This is because communication is one of the important factors for successful nursing.
b. Highly specialised – International nursing demands highly specialized skills. One should focus on a specific skill and be highly efficient in that skill.
c. Self-sufficient and independent – Independency is required when working in a foreign country. The nurses should have self-sufficient knowledge and experience to be independent in caring for the patient.
d. Working as a team and positive – Positiveness is important to deal with people of diverse cultures. The nurses should always work as a team that highly demanded in nursing.
My colleague should prepare himself for a career in international nursing by learning to the requirement of international nursing. He should prepare to be fluent in different major languages of the globe. He should again skill for efficient communication. He should gain sufficient knowledge of nursing that would make him self-confident and independent. He needs to be super-specialised in a particular field to be successful in getting international nursing. He should practice nursing as a team.
