I think you will rate my answer positively --
1.Asthma is common long term condition that can cause wheezing, breathlessness, and a cough .
Most common trigger in people' are dust mites, animal fur, pollen, tobacco smoke, exercise, cold air, and chest infections.
2.In Asthma action plan there are three different stages .
1. Green zone -- no symptoms, no problems sleeping , and can able to do normal activities.everyday controller medications as usual is given .It has few symptoms.
2. Yellow zone -- cough, wheeze, chest tightness, upper respiratory problems occur. In these type of patients quiet relief medications is given. It is mild to moderate condition.
3. Red zone - The red zone is emergency condition , the medication is not effective , breathing is hard and fast , cannot talk and walk , nose are open wide .It is most severe condition.
3.spirometry is a measurement of air entering, and leaving the lungs .i.e flow, volume, time.done for air obstruction or restrictions.
It is a computerized electronic instrument used to conduct test.
Spirometry test is performed as you will sit in a chair and have clip placed on your nose to keep your nostril closed . Then you will take deep breath and exhale as quickly and hard as you can into tube.than you will need to wrap your lips tightly around the tube so all your air goes into it. Usually test is performed thrice to gain confirm result .The tube is connected to spirometer machine .than it records how much air you breathe out from lungs and its speed also.
4. Forced expiratory volume in 1 second - volume of air expelled in one second on forceful exhalation.
Measures in litre, gold standard for diagnosis for asthma and COPD .It is measured before and after the patients inhale a short acting bronchodilator.
If the patients is obstructed ( FEV1/FVC<10% of predicted) and giving them bronchodilator improved FEV1or FVC by at least 12% , then the patient has Asthma.
5.In yellow zone - Talk about symptoms and the importance of early recognition and treatment. Talk to patients and families about specific warning signs . Continue to quick relief medications until24 hrs after symptoms have subsided . If symptoms persist than immediately consult to doctor . And avoid to come in contact of all possible allergen cause trigger to astma.
Thankyou.
