What are blended inheritance theory and one parent inheritance theory state? How were these theories disproved by mendel? explain
Blended inheritance theory stated that the offsprings were the average of their parents. For example a tall and a dwarf plant are crossed and they produce all medium height plants. The one parent hypothesis theory states that the offspring will have phenotype of only one of the parent and not an average. For example, a white and red flower plant will have plants with either white or red color but not other color. Mendel disproved these two theories with the law of segregation which is the first law proposed by Mendel. In this law Mendel proved that the alleles that give the phenotypes segregate independently and hence there is pattern as to how these alleles express offsprings phenotype. For example Mendel crossed two pure tall and dwarf plants and obtained all tall plants in F1 generation and in F2 generation he obtained a phenotypic ratio of 3tall:1dwarf plant. This disproved the one parent inheritance theory and then the codominance disproved the other blended theory.
