Compare and Contrast Cancer cells to Stem Cells. Some people believe that there is cell type referred to as a “Cancer Stem Cell”. Describe what features are needed for that cell type (a cancer stem cell) to exist.

Both stem cell and cancer cell can divide beyond the hayflick limit (a cell can divide more than 60 times). But stem cells remain uncommitted until it receives a single to divide. But cancel cell continues to divide and resulting tumour.

Pattern of division of stem cell is of two types: i) symmetric and ii) assymetric . And by the process of assymetric cell division, stem cell keep renewing themselves. But cancer cells divided by symmetric means and both the daughter cell can again divided, that's why growth rate of cancer cells are very much high.

Within the tumour cell the subpopulation of stem like cell called cancer stem cell (CSC) having potential to differentiate randomly having Characteristics of both cancer cell and stem cell.
