The rectangle below is made up of 12 squares of the same size. Find the perimeter of the rectangle if the area of the rectangle is equal to 1728 square cm.

Solutions

Expert Solution

in this question, we can determine the area of each small square. This is done by dividing the area by the number of squares.

1728/12 = 144

we determine the value of each side of the squares by determining the square root of 144

1440.5= 12

we have the dimensions of each side of the square.

to determine the length of the rectangle, we multiply 12 by the number of squares along the length such that;

length = 12 x 4 = 48cm

to determine the width, we multiply 12 by the number of squares along the width of the rectangle such that;

width = 12 X 3 = 36cm

we add the length 2 times and the width 2 times in the expression below;

(48 X2)+(36 X 2) = 168cm

The perimeter of the rectangle is 168cm
