Ans) The ovarian cycle governs the preparation of endocrine tissues and release of eggs, while the menstrual cycle governs the preparation and maintenance of the uterine lining. These cycles occur concurrently and are coordinated over a 22–32 day cycle, with an average length of 28 days.
- The menstrual cycle can be described by the ovarian or uterine cycle. The ovarian cycle describes changes that occur in the follicles of the ovary whereas the uterine cycle describes changes in the endometrial lining of the uterus. Both cycles can be divided into three phases.
- Ovarian cycle involves what hormones are released which differs at different times during the cycle and maturation of follicles into mature eggs and release of eggs.
Uterine cycle involves the growth of endometrial tissue which being supplied with blood/nutrient all for preparation of if a fertilizer egg implants and then the blood supply being cut off and the tissue shed if no implantation occurs.
